RCtoDC Hosts Sixth Webinar on the Toolkit-App for 3D and XR digitization
On April 30, 2026, the RCtoDC project held its sixth webinar, RCtoDC Toolkit-App for 3D and XR digitization. The event, hosted on Google Workspace, brought together museum professionals, conservators, and researchers to present the RCtoDC Toolkit-App for 3D and XR digitization.
The Toolkit-App for 3D and XR digitization is implemented through a dual-format delivery model, consisting of:
- a video-based, web-accessible application layer, and
- a structured booklet presenting the same workflows, tools, and standards in a written, reference-oriented format.
This combined approach was deliberately adopted to maximise accessibility, usability, and reuse across heterogeneous institutional contexts. The Toolkit does not replace specialised 3D/XR software—which is indispensable for the creation of 3D and XR objects—but orchestrates, structures, and operationalises their use through clear, task-oriented guidance.
Development followed a user-centred, practice-driven methodology, closely integrated with:
- digitisation workflows implemented under WP3,
- online and on-site training activities carried out under WP2,
- dissemination and feedback mechanisms under WP4.
The Toolkit’s modular architecture, open accessibility, and reliance on widely used professional tools ensure high potential for uptake, scalability across institutional contexts, and sustainability beyond the project lifetime. This report complements the tangible Toolkit outputs (video and booklet) by documenting the development and deployment process and serves as a basis for expert assessment during the final project review, alongside a live demonstration.
For those who were unable to attend or wish to revisit the session, the recording and presentation materials are available [here].
