Digitized Sculpture of Saint Bonaventure Now Online
We’re excited to unveil our latest digital capture: a 3D scan of Francesco Robba’s sculpture of Saint Bonaventure.
This exceptional Baroque artwork has now been preserved in detailed digital form, providing wider access for research, conservation, and public appreciation.
How We Scanned It
The sculpture was digitized using a hybrid workflow designed to capture both precise geometry and high-quality textures. We used the Artec Leo for rapid, high-accuracy scanning of the overall structure, the Artec Space Spider II for capturing fine surface details, and the Canon EOS R5 Mark II for high-resolution photogrammetry.
All datasets were aligned and processed in Artec Studio 19, ensuring excellent color fidelity, geometric precision, and a clean final mesh.
Our Workflow
By combining multiple devices, we were able to capture the sculpture’s form at both macro and micro levels. Structured-light scanning provided reliable geometry even in complex areas, while DSLR photogrammetry delivered crisp, detailed textures.
The final model was reconstructed and optimized in Artec Studio 19 to create a faithful digital representation of Robba’s original masterpiece.
