New 3D Models: The Mother of God and St. John the Evangelist

16 Feb, 2026 | Return|

Experience the Mother of God and St. John the Evangelist like never before. These 18th-century polychrome wooden sculptures, originally from the Franciscan carving workshop (likely for the monastery in Kamnik), are now available as fully interactive 3D models.

Interactive Features

  • 360° View: Rotate and zoom to examine the fine chisel marks and the delicate 18th-century paint.

  • Augmented Reality (AR): Use your smartphone to place these Baroque masterpieces in your own space at their actual scale.

  • Digital Preservation: These models were created using the Artec Leo scanner, a contactless technology that ensures the safety of the original fragile surfaces.

About the Works

  • Mother of God: A graceful S-composition featuring a blue cape over a red dress, with her arms crossed in prayer.

  • St. John the Evangelist: Depicted in a relaxed contrapposto pose, wearing a green robe and a voluminous two-toned cape.

Both sculptures are part of the National Gallery of Slovenia’s permanent collection.
